Robot Rise

My entry for the GMTK 2024 Game Jam: Built to Scale!

Upgrade a cube robot so that it can climb the endless* tower!
*Disclaimer: May or may not actually be endless.

Tips:

• Allow for a couple runs to get used to the controls, it's a little weird. But after that, go for coins, the upgrades do a LOT to make the climb easier!
• Coins and Upgrades are persistent. Do not be afraid of starting a run over! Only size resets at the beginning of each run.
• If you end a run with 0 coins, the game gives you a free coin. I honestly have no idea why, I did not code it to do that.

All resources made by me, except the water splash sound effects, which are made by Deadrobotmusic on Freesound.org.

Known Issues (adding to this as people find more):

• Some menu graphics don't load sometimes? No clue why, but they're not important ones, it's still readable. But if you see empty space, there's supposed to be logos there.
• The audio starts out weird in the online version. I'll fix it in an update before the deadline if I can. If not, give it a few seconds and it will sort itself out.
• Some places on the tower overlap themselves just a little. It is annoying, but rare. Think of it as an extra challenge, I guess? :I
• The Quit button just freezes the online version of the game. Don't bother clicking it, just hit escape and leave the page.
